Once you install the plugin and visit its option page (you have to do that for it to initialize default options) you use the plugin by inserting the [tippy] tag anywhere within your post. See the main Tippy page for an example.

Sorry to be so dumb (newbie!), but what exactly do I have to do with your example:

i.e. How do I implement it within a static page or post? (I have installed the plugin, but don’t know how to call it within a page.)

You can format the reference a number of different ways, but as shorthand it will also recognize Genesis 1:1-5

And, what I REALLY like about your plugin is that it can show more than one single line. I wanted to use the first 5 from Genesis, and put in Genesis 1:1-1:5, and it worked! Amazing.

Agreed. The visual editor can be nice, but I find it tends to cause more trouble than it’s worth, and not just with my plugin. I usually just keep it turned off.

Greetings, and thank you for creating this plug in. I can also confirm that the Visual Editor plays havoc with this plugin, as well as MANY other things.
As an aside, to deactivate the Visual Editor, go to USERS> YOUR PROFILE, and UNcheck the box next to “Use the visual editor when writing”. My site was messed up for the longest time because of that, and it took a long time to find that little secret. :)
